May 23, 2025

Ikirun College of Health Technology, Osun state, on Friday, held its maiden matriculation ceremony, officially welcoming 305 pioneering students into its academic community.

The event, held at the college premises in Ikirun, Osun State, marked a historic milestone for the institution, which was established in May 2024.

Dignitaries from across academic, political, traditional, and religious sectors gathered to witness the formal induction of the first set of students into the college’s various health programmes.

In his welcome address, the Founder of the College, Mr. Abdullateef Oyewale, noted that the vision to establish a centre of excellence for health education had finally taken root.

He said, “this college was born out of a deep desire to bridge the gap in quality health education, especially in our region.

“Today, as we matriculate the first cohort of students, it is both humbling and exhilarating. You are the foundation upon which we will build a legacy of excellence.”

The Founder assured the students of a world-class learning experience rooted in integrity, compassion, and service to humanity, while also expressing appreciation to the college’s staff, parents, and the supportive Ikirun community.

Delivering the keynote address titled “Empowering a New Generation of Health Professionals: Navigating Excellence and Innovation”, Professor Sunday Ajao Owolabi of Babcock University charged the matriculants to take the moment seriously as a life-shaping journey.

“You are not just enrolling in a school; you are stepping into a pathway of excellence, skill acquisition, and intellectual growth,” Prof. Owolabi stated.

He urged the students to focus on learning, cultivate leadership values, and strive to leave a lasting legacy.

“First class begins from the first class,” he advised, stressing the importance of discipline, critical thinking, curiosity, and teamwork in navigating the health technology space.

Chairman of the Governing Board, Engr. (Dr) Mustafa Adeleke Olawuyi, described the matriculation as more than a ceremony, calling it a rite of passage into a community committed to producing ethical and socially responsible health professionals.

“You are joining a college that is committed to equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to make meaningful contributions to society,” he said.

In his own remarks, the Rector of the College, Mr. Salaudeen Oyewale, emphasized that the institution was founded not just to provide health education but to build a community grounded in integrity and service.

“This matriculation signifies your formal admission into this community of learning and purpose. You are the foundation of this institution’s future,” the Rector declared.

He thanked the Osun State Government, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the staff, and the parents for their trust and support, reiterating the college’s commitment to excellence.
