A LANDMARK BEGINNING: IKIRUN COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY HOLDS FIRST MATRICULATION CEREMONY

History was made on Friday, May 23, 2025, as Ikirun College of Health Technology proudly hosted its first-ever matriculation ceremony, marking the formal induction of its pioneer students into the prestigious institution for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The ceremony, held on the college premises, was a momentous celebration of vision, growth, and academic promise. The matriculating students were officially welcomed into two foundational programs—Community Health Technology and Public Health Technology—both carefully designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen healthcare systems across Nigeria.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Salaudeen Oyewale, Rector of the College, described the occasion as a defining moment in the history of the institution and a bold step toward transforming healthcare education in Osun State and beyond. “This ceremony is not just a rite of passage; it symbolizes our shared commitment to building a healthier future through quality education, discipline, and service,” he stated.

The event’s keynote address was delivered by Professor Owolabi Sunday, a distinguished Professor of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State. Drawing from his wealth of academic and administrative experience, Prof. Sunday challenged the new students to embrace excellence, integrity, and responsibility in their academic pursuits. “You are the foundation upon which the legacy of this institution will be built,” he said. “Your journey begins today—not just as students, but as ambassadors of health and change in your communities.”

The matriculation ceremony featured the administration of the matriculation oath, cultural presentations, student reflections, and an inspiring display of the college’s growing facilities and infrastructure.

The event not only celebrated academic beginnings but also underscored Ikirun College of Health Technology’s mission to produce competent, ethical, and community-oriented health professionals who will contribute meaningfully to public health development in Nigeria and beyond.

With this historic milestone, the college has laid a strong foundation for excellence, innovation, and service—a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
